1. Who we are

Methodiqal is a web design service operating as a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. In this notice, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Methodiqal.

We are the data controller for the personal information described below. That means we decide what information is collected and what happens to it.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

When you complete the enquiry form on our website, or email us directly, we collect:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your phone number, if you choose to include it
• Your sector or practice type
• Anything else you write in your message, including details about your business

If you go on to become a client, we will also collect information needed to build and run your website — for example your business contact details, logo and brand assets, photographs, written content, and any account or domain details you choose to share with us.

Information collected automatically

Our website is hosted on Netlify, which records standard server access logs including IP address, browser type, pages requested and timestamps. This is used for security, fraud prevention and to keep the site running. We do not currently run any analytics or advertising tracking on this website.

Our enquiry form is protected by a hidden honeypot field rather than a third-party service such as Google reCAPTCHA. It sets no cookies and collects nothing about your device. See our Cookie Policy for detail.

3. How and why we use your information

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

4. Our lawful bases for using it

Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for using your personal information. We rely on:

• Contract — where we need your information to provide a service you have asked for, or to take steps before entering into a contract with you (for example, responding to an enquiry or preparing a quote).
• Legitimate interests — where we have a business reason to use your information that does not override your rights. This covers keeping our site secure, preventing spam, and keeping basic records of the enquiries we receive.
• Legal obligation — where we are required to keep records, particularly for accounting and tax purposes.
• Consent — where you have specifically agreed, for example to receive marketing emails from us. You can withdraw consent at any time.

5. Who we share it with

We keep your information to ourselves as far as possible. We do share it with a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:

6. International transfers

Some of the providers listed above are based in, or store data in, the United States. Where your information is transferred outside the UK, that transfer is covered by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

7. How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not become projects — up to 12 months, then deleted.
• Client project records — for the duration of the project and for 6 years afterwards, so that we can deal with any questions or claims that arise.
• Financial records — 6 years from the end of the relevant tax year, as required by HMRC.
• Server logs — retained by our hosting provider for a short period, typically no more than 30 days.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
• Ask us to delete your information, where there is no good reason for us to keep it
• Ask us to restrict how we use your information
• Object to us using your information where we rely on legitimate interests
• Ask us to transfer your information to you or another provider, in a portable format
• Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent

10. Security

Our website is served over HTTPS. Enquiries submitted through our form are transmitted securely and stored within our hosting provider’s systems and our business email account, both of which are access-controlled. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information you give us.

11. Children

Our services are aimed at businesses and professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Where changes are significant, we will make that clear on this page.

13. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please tell us first so we have the chance to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
